Fruit salad?
Mine made it too, unfortunitely I don't know the name of it, but I think it had a jello base with cool whip and canned fruit salad, to which she added additional grapes, I think. It was a moulded salad, she served on lettuce? Try JELLO recipes online?
Reply:Thanks....sometimes it pays to read the Q and give it some thought before answering??? Report It
Reply:It sounds like you're describing ambrosia salad:
AMBROSIA SALAD
2 cans pineapple chunks, drained
2 cans mandarin oranges, drained
2 jars maraschino, drained
1 can coconut flakes
1/2 bag mini marshmallows
4 oz. sour cream
16 oz. Cool Whip
Combine sour cream and Cool Whip. Fold in all other ingredients. Chill covered for at least 2 hours.
Of course you can alter to taste. For example skip the coconut if you like.
Reply:Look for recipes of Ambrosia salad. It usually had walnuts in it, grapes, coolwhip, sometimes kiwi, strawberries, cherries, pineapple, mandarin oranges, etc.. whatever you like, really. My grandmother used to make it too!
Reply:Fresh Fruit Salad
INGREDIENTS:
6 peaches, peeled, pitted, and chopped
1 pound strawberries, rinsed, hulled, and sliced
1/2 pound seedless green grapes
1/2 pound seedless red grapes
3 bananas, peeled and sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar, or less, to taste
.
Dressing:
juice of one lime
1/2 cup pineapple juice
1 teaspoon ground ginger
PREPARATION:
Combine chopped and sliced fruits in a large serving bowl; toss gently. Sprinkle with sugar. Whisk together remaining ingredients in a small bowl or 1 cup measure. Pour dressing mixture over fruit and toss gently to combine.
Cover and chill the fruit salad thoroughly before serving.
This fruit salad recipe makes enough to serve about 10 to 12 people.
Reply:A fruit salad is basically whatever you want to put in it. I just make sure the amounts of all the fruits are even, so I don't really measure.
I use:
apples-peeled and chunked
mandarin oranges
red grapes-cut in half
maraschino cherries
and cool whip...sometimes I use walnuts and coconut flakes as well.
Hope this has helped.
Reply:sounds like ambrosia, look it up on www.epicurious.com
Reply:um, im not sure but i think regular fruit salad also includes cool whip and vanilla yogurt.
dont know if that helps. good luck!
happy holidays
Reply:Maybe look in google. They usually have recipes all over the internet. Otherwise, try experimenting with what you think might be in it. It depends if it is salty or sweet, then go from there.
