Vitamins or fruit: what is better?

I've heard that vitamins in artifical form (pills, etc.) can't digest real well without the fruit. So, what's the point in taking them. Would it be better to just eat fresh fruit?

Vitamins or fruit: what is better?
I just read an article on MSNBC last night that should help you out:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16655168/

Taking a daily vitamin may actually hurt you more than help you, and it is ALWAYS better to get the vitamins and minerals from food sources such as fruit, vegetables, meat and grains.

That being said, I do take a daily multivitamin as insurance since I probably don't eat healthy enough every day. But I always take it with food and water. Some vitamins are fat soluble and some are water soluble, so you need to have fat and water in your stomach if the vitamins are going to make it out of there and go do their work in your body.

If you do decide on taking a multivitamin, the MSNBC article should point you in the right direction for choosing a safe vitamin.
Reply:Man made chemicals are always superior to natural, fresh produce.*
Reply:fresh fruits is the best indeed even if u go to a doc %26amp; asked u to take a vitamin the best is to eat the kind of fruit that contain that vitamin
Reply:Pills provide a larger dose. But fruit gives everything in its 'natural form. fruit gives fiber and tastes better.

for what purpose are you taking these vitamins?
Reply:There is definitely some truth in it. You may want to really talk to a nutritionist in order to determine what's better for you to eat. But taking straight vitamins may not do the justice. You need to eat fruit for fiber and other important benefits.
Reply:fruits are better! people only should take vitamins if they do not have a healthy eating habit
