Why is fruit punch a flavor?

I understand fruit punch is a combination of fruits, but why is the word punch there?

Reply:Fruit punch is a trade name brand from Hawaiian Punch, Coca Cola. They have a distinctive flavor of different fuit juices. Punch came as a "kick" ( meaning spice up ) with fruits.

Later, the society accepted fruit punch as a flavor, for everyone to understand.
Reply:Perhaps it is because the drink of fruit punch has a distinct taste and it's easier label a flavor as "fruit punch" than to spell out all the different fruits in it.
