Types of fruit you eat in a day!?

With regards to eating 5 a day I was just wondering if it mattered if you ate 2 or more of the same fruit in a day? Like today I had 2 apples and 4 satsumas- is that bad and if so, why? Is it better to have lots of different fruits in a day?

you should mix vegetables in there. 5 a day is for both frutis and veggies. Fruits are really high in sugar, and therefore in calories, so you don't want to have more than 2 or 3 servings. Instead, eat a couple of pieces of fruit, or servings of berries, and then have 3 or 4 servings of vegetables. Nutritionists are now chaning their mind to say we should have closer to 9 servings of fruits and veggies a day! So, in that case, you could have 3-4 of fruit, and the rest veggies. Because, by the time you eat all that, you don't have room for any other food anyway, so you don't have to worry about the extra calories in fruit. :)
Reply:You are suppose to eat two fruits a day. I think that two of same kind would be ok. You should also eat two kinds of veg a day.
Reply:no, it doesn't matter if you eat the same fruit twice, check out the vitamins for the fruit you eat and compare it to other fruit.
Reply:It is not bad as such but variety is much better, Different fruits have different nutrients and vitamins. You have a better chance of getting what you need if you eat a variety.
Reply:Worrying about it is worse for your health than anything. It does not matter. You can get a more varied nutrition in a day by eating different ones but it don't matter. I would say that if most of your diet is fruit and you only eat one kind of fruit for one year, then it is a concern.



But eat many different fruit over the year. In the last week I had strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, watermelon, kiwi, papaya, oranges, red grapes, Fuji apple, Asian pear and avocados. See site below to see why fruits are the healthielst food.



I forgot. I eat a banana almost everyday for the extra potassium.

My boyfriend's mom got 11 lbs of them in vermont...yum...besides that i need to increase my fruit intake.
Reply:The fruits I'll have today are an orange, apple, and cherries. Everyday one of my fruits is citrus and one is some form of an apple, then the other could be a banana, grapes, cherries, peaches, what ever is fresh at the market. I always have three different fruits. I also always have a salad and two servings of vegetables. I feel great when I make sure I get all these things, and my body's digestion system is on track.
Reply:variety is the spice of life..i am sure that applies to food too.so..i'd say different fruits.
Reply:i dont think it really matter, the thing to eating a lot of fruits a day is to get different types of nutrients. so if u eat 2 types of fruit thats pretty good
Reply:it is better to have different fruits because of the different vitamins you get in different ones, but having more than one type of fruit still counts
Reply:I doubt it. There are different nutrients in different types of fruits, but eating two of the same fruit is much better than an alternative like candy bars or potato chips!
Reply:Nah, I don't think it really matters. It's good to have variety but it won't make you any less healthy if you eat more then one of the same fruit. As long as you're eating fruit, and not chips or burgers, you'll be fine.
Reply:Variety is good, but eating the same fruits wont kill you. Try berries: they can help rev up your metabolism, especially strawberries. and they're great! it really doesnt matter though. as long as you dont eat TOO much. like eating 8 apples in one day....thats not good. lol
Reply:My mom told me she goes by colors. You should eat atleast seven different colors a day. 5 servings of fruits and veggies helps with different colors because if you are eating too many refined foods your diet is mostly beige and thats a good cue that your not getting nutrients which are in more vibrantly colored foods.
