"fruit(s)" is another word for natural "results" from your being

"works" refers to deeds you do on purpose



IF you have respect and caring and compassion in your heart, the results in your behaviour will automatically be constructive to people you come across. You are like the good tree which bears good fruits. Whats in your heart will automatically result in your courageous and kind behaviours. Its more genuine, its more sincere, its more courageous, more enduring, more consistent. You'd result in good actions REGARDLESS of other people's opinions. Its the result of your BEING.



If whats in your heart is greed, pride, hatred, etc your automatic results in your behaviours (the "fruits") will be bad actions, unless you hide it with "works" -- artificial good deeds just to give people an impression that you're good.



IF you just do some good deed sometime in order to impress someone or to achieve some advantage, its "works", Its more artificial, mechanical, not genuine, not consistent, not trustworthy. You see, with "works", IF people would laugh at you then you would not do it, even if its a good deed. Its not what's in your heart, its not "the real you".



"Works" can be deceptive and enticing, even misinterpreted as "fruits".



"Works" is more like something a villain would do -- doing one good deed to make people think he's a good man, in order to get a foot in the door and then the real rotten stuff comes, the fruits of a bad being, fraud, theft, abuse, uncaring, violence, etc...



Jesus said he is the vine, connected to God and the universe, and you are a branch. If you're not connected, you probably won't produce fruits of the spirit - unconditional love, unconditional joy, peace, etc... and in that case you're dependent on external conditions, and most likely your joy and peace etc will dry up and crumble away.



Works are fake and won't get you sustainable and continuing results. If you have to bribe your way all along to make people like you or accept you, you'll run out of money. Thats works. "Works" wear you out.



Faith or whats truly in your heart is genuine and will result in fruits, continually. Fruits keep on coming, even without effort.



Good fruits come from a good tree, Evil fruits come from an evil tree. Whats genuinely in your heart will produce your results of your actions ("fruits"), unless you fake it with actions to make an impression in order to gain some advantage ("works").



If you're faithless, then no fruits of the spirit will come about. Its lame.

your works are the things God accomplishes through you and your faith. many people think it is the good deeds you do, but it is clearly what GOD does through you. in order to have works you must completely surrender to God so he can use you.

Reply:Good fruit is when people follow Jesus. By living a life for Jesus people will follow what is right. Leading someone else to Christ. Works is what you do for the Lord. Fruit is what you produce from living a life for the Lord. If you Love the Lord you will be willing to work for Him. Such as greetings at the Church door, helping people when they are down, picking up scraps of paper of the church floor, helping Teachers as an aid, helping at funeral dinners, and anything to show the love of Christ.

Reply:Fruit are spiritual gifts given by God when we convert and accept Him in our hearts. They are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

For example you could do something good for political gain or just to raise peoples estimation of yourself and it would be a good work like feeding the hungry but it would not be worthy or good in God's eyes as motives are important to Him. So if you gave it because you have love for people that God gave you then it would be good.

Reply:It is referring to the fruit of the spirit which is listed in Galatians 5:22....your works are your good deeds and what you do. The fruit is the result of your works... if you have done good things...good things will come of it essentially.
Reply:Your belief in Christ, will cause you to do work that will produce fruits of life, given by God, on this earth. Works will not cause you to produce fruits showing your belief in Christ henceforth allowing you into heaven when your life here is done. His word is your guide.
