Fruit for an African Grey??
Each bird has their own likes and dislikes. Most birds can eat about any type of fruit or veggie. I know for sure you not supposed to feed them chocolate any type of caffeine or especially avacado. Avacado are very poisonous to birds. I would suggest you do some research on the web to see what types of food to feed Greys. Hope I helped!
Reply:Your bird will probably take a little while to warm up to a new food, but most parrots tend to love fresh and dried fruits and vegetables. Just don't feed onions or avocados to your bird. Avocados can actually kill parrots. When feeding dried fruits or veggies go for unsweetened and unsalted. Too much sugar and salt can be bad for birds. And don't give your bird cooked chicken! I don't know what that person is thinking! Hard boiled eggs and dried yogurt are fine. Always consult an avian vet if you have any questions about your bird's health.
Reply:Any kind of fruit or green veggie is great, including dried, though some birds will say "pooh-pooh" to dried fruit. I sometimes mix dried fruit into my Greys' food. Generally, fruit with a strong color has the best vitamin content. If your Grey will eat grapes, oranges, or tomato, these are ideal. But the bottom line is to give your bird alot of variety.
Reply:She'll have her own likes and dislikes, but all fruit and vegetables are good for her. Fresh and frozen. Offer her a variety night and morning and see what she likes.
Reply:yes, as told before NO CHOCOLATE OR AVACODO..... Any other fruits and vegetables are great. I also feed my African Grey a varitity of beans, oats and rice. She loves it. I give this to her twice a week. You can feed them mashed or boiled potatoes also.
Reply:For a African gray I feed mine, mango, papya, pineapple, apples, grapes, carrots, green beans, etc. i also on occasion feed lean cooked chicken, eggs, and low fat yogurt and cottage cheese.
