Unusual fruit/vegetable??

i have to do a 2 minute presentation on a unusual fruit or vegetable. Any ideas on what the fruit/vegetable should be??

Unusual fruit/vegetable??
A durian is the weirdest fruit I've seen and tasted.
Reply:Avocado!! A fruit with absolutely no taste whatsover, and for some odd reason customers at my work (I'm a cook) have an affinity for them. Absolutely astounding! Why people have such a craze for them, I do not know!! I say go for the avocado. Your teacher will probably be amazed that such a tasteless fruit even had information written about it!
Reply:Duriyan- this is a fruit largely available in China, Malaysia and Singapore. It has strong smell and the outer portion is almost like jack fruit and inside also like the jack fruit, It is said to have the strongest smell in all of the fruits. It is not supposed to be carried in Train and Buses in Singapore due to its strong smell. An interesting flruit. For further details you can get from web site.
Reply:durican it tastes good however it smells like wet towel
Reply:How about the Jerusalem artichoke? If you have to have one for the presentation, it might be hard to find, but this is an interesting tuber vegetable. I can only find them at the farmer's market.
Reply:persimmon its grown in Austalian you can have too types the soft flesh ones or the crunchy crisp ones.

Kangaroo paw is another one
Reply:li-chi nut, some kinda chinese fruit

Go here. Its pretty interesting.
Reply:Try parsnip. It's like a white carrot and tastes great if you ate them as a child like I did. I seldom find them in the grocery stores any more.
Reply:duriyan seems to be the most popular...never heard of it myself. so maybe it's your best bet for max points. one's I have heard of are ugli fruit or plantains. good luck to you on your presentation.
Reply:Well, you could try the Dorset Naga, a chilli that has a unique shape and apparently named the most hottest chilli in the world. I saw a documentary on it, its intriguing and one thing is that I find interesting is that people espically in Pakistan, keep on coming back to eat the chilli because it has this kind of taste that keeps people coming back for more.
