My friend and I bought some miracle fruit for a science project. If anyone out there has tried miracle fruit, what foods are good to eat with it?
We are planning on trying lemons, limes, cucumbers, and possibly cheese.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Miracle Fruit?
The berry is sweet, and contains an active glycoprotein molecule, with some trailing carbohydrate chains, called miraculin. When the fleshy part of the fruit is eaten, this molecule binds to the tongue's taste buds, causing bitter and sour foods (such as lemons and limes) consumed later to taste sweet. So, you should not be able tell any appreciable difference in foods that aren't sour. The affect lasts anywhere between 30 minutes and 2 hours.
Try:
Sour ball candy or any kind of sour candy
Things that have vinegar in them
Dill pickles
Sauerkraut
Grapefruit
The skin of assorted citrus which is bitter
Reply:Blue or Goat Cheese is very good as well as GRAPEFRUIT... its amazing.. and i don't even like grapefruit usually! The affect on your tongue can last up to 30 minutes.. so if you don't like it.... the taste and affects can be washed away with hot tea or water!
