i like making my own mixed fruit juce but work shifts so getting fresh fruit is a problem, is it possable to freeze fruit and put it straight into the blender (frozen) with some fresh orange juce? if so what types are best to freeze?
Can i freeze fruit?
Berries are the easiest. I would recommend rinsing berries gently, drying them in a colander and pouring them out on a cookie sheet. Slide the cookie sheet in the freezer, when they are frozen transfer them into a freezer bag. That freezes them individually. Then when you want to make a smoothie, you can just take out a 1/2 a cup instead of a huge clump of berries. I would do the same with peaches, peel and cube first. You can buy bags of frozen fruit with honeydew, oranges, etc. and if they can do it, experiment and you can too. Good luck.
Reply:strawberries...blueberries..raspberries.... best.
orange juice.... skim milk.... honey.. plain yogurt..banana..frozen strawberries...put in blender..
Reply:strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, pineapple chunks are all great for freezing. I would cut up the strawberries and pineapple and place all in a freezer on a cookie sheet to freeze separately otherwise if you throw it all together in a container to freeze they will stick together. When the fruit has frozen on the cookie sheet then put in a container together.
Reply:You will get a smoothie consistency rather than a juice consistency, but if a smoothie's what you want, then using frozen fruit is perfect, and you can freeze almost any fruit for this purpose. If you wanted to thaw the fruit, and use it in another way, (ie desserts, etc.) that would be a different matter as most fruits get mushy after freezing and defrosting. But in your case feel free to try strawberries, grapes, mango, berries, bananas (cut them up first), pineapple, anything really. It will be delicious, and for smoothies, you don't need to add ice and dilute the flavor when you freeze the fruit.
