I am dieting and exercising. I've lost 40 lbs so far but I seem to have stopped. Since I exercise so much my appetite seems to have increased. I'm always hungry. I was thinking of doing the same diet, but cutting out low-calorie snacks all together and replacing those with fruit and veggies. But is there such a thing as eating too much? What is the recommended amount? I know fruit is very high in sugar, which isn't great for you but it seems to be a healthy alternative. Too much fruit/veggies VS. too much JUNK food. What do you think/do??? Thanks! :)
Is too much fruit and veggies bad for you?
It sounds like you've hit a plateau. That is normal. Maybe you can change up your workout. Have you been basically doing the same workout the whole time? If you add strength training to your workout it will kick things up a notch. If you have already been doing this, try alternating with push-ups, jumping rope, situps, lunges and squats. You're doing great!
BTW, I think too much of anything is not good. I've heard of people's skin turning an orange tint from eating too many carrots, but that must have been a LOT of carrots. Protein will help you keep your muscle mass. Snack on protein along with your fruits and veggies.

Reply:If you can have fruit or veggies as snacks, by all means do it. For meals you want to have some protein with your veggies. There is no such thing as too much green veggies, and I doubt it's possible to overdo it with fruit either. You have to be careful with beans, nuts and potatoes; those calories can add up fast.
I think if you have lost 40 pounds already, stick with what you've been doing. If you stopped losing weight, you might need to adjust your exercise routines or be more conscious of your calorie intake. It's very easy to eat 400-500 more calories than you think you are if you are not carefully monitoring everything you eat.
Reply:Protein helps you feel full longer. I don't think you can eat too many fruits or veggies, but you do need protein in your diet. Good protein would be lean meats like fish and chicken, beans, legumes, and soy.

Reply:Snack on carrots or celery sticks with abit of salsa or hummus !! No such thing as too many veggies !
Reply:no it's not bad for you just make sure you eat a lot of lean meats too or you could start getting weak
