Ive heard that when making a gooseberry pie, a certain fruit will lessen the sharpness, but I cant remember what that fruit is.
Can anyone help please? : )
Which fruit can you add to gooseberries to make them less sharp to taste?
pear, gawd, gooseberry pie, yummmmmmmy!
Reply:Not a fruit but a herb! Sweet Cecily. You'll have to grow it yourself but it works for any tart fruit.
Reply:dingleberries
Reply:pears or apples i think would work best as you get the flavour of the gooseberries and apples and pears are sweet. Hope you find the fruit you want.
Reply:Cherries are good with it! Only this will change the colour. Otherwise use pears
Reply:bananas.
Reply:I should think pears would do - without disturbing the goosberry taste too much ....
also, you might try experimenting with green grapes ...
cheers

Reply:Maybe if you check out these recipes you will remember it
or at least find a new recipe - there are several.
