just wondering if it was possible to maintain a relatively 'healthy' diet that dosent have much vegetables, but quite a few fruits
I myself have quite a few different foods, i excersise regularly, i'm on my feet at work almost allday and go 4 runs every few days that are a few miles in length, however vegetables have never been a big thing with me,i have quite a variety of fruit though, such as bannanas, grapes, oranges, apples, blueberries etc-as far as veg is concerned, im very limited, usually lettuce on sandwiches, onions and occasionally carrots is as far as I go
i'm trying to keep everything in moderation though, for when I have chocolate i'll try to have other things that day that are relatively healthy to compensate, but with a diet that consists of the fruits i mentioned, would anyone be able to recommend some key veg, or if I need veg,I have quite a lot of meat in my diet too-5 a day' rule,I usually have atleast 4 of 5 a day, but its mostly fruit, do i NEED veg badly?
Healthy eating but mostly on Fruit rather than Veg, is it possible?
You need to eat lots of veggies to stay healthy and it needs to be a variety of green and orange/yellow veggies. Also be sure you get enough protein and calcium in your diet.
Reply:I hear ya about the veg. I don't eat any more than you do. I just don't like them.
Fruits are way good for you but you have to remember that fruits are high in sugar. Although they are high in fibre, vitamins and antioxidens. Don't over do it on the fruits. The sugar in them is not good for you.
Try eating veggies in stews or soups (that's how i get most of my vegs cause I just don't like them). Find different ways to cook them. There's nothing wrong with putting a little sauce of somekind on them to mask the taste. Eat them raw. Munch on some carrots or peppers with lunch. There's lots of ways to "hide" veggies in your meals. Surf the net and see what you can find.
Reply:for optimum health you need to consume vegetables on a regular basis. the nutrients contained in fruits and vegetables are not the same. both must be consumed on a regular basis if optimum health is the goal

Reply:Fruit are cleansing, Vegetables are more for rebuilding and enhancing healing and health. I would strongly suggest that you reverse your intake and make the vegetables a priority and still maintain fruit intake. I would also lower the amount of protein intake as it is very hard on the kidneys and digestion. If you had some complex carbs like brown rice, barley, oats etc. instead of so much protein I think you would feel better by doing that alone. Try juicing to up your veggie intake ie carrots %26amp; celery with apple. Carrots, beets %26amp; apple, spinach is excellent too, add a little fresh ginger for some zing. Most of the veggies that you don't like to eat you can mix with carrot %26amp; apple to make them more palatable and get the nutritive value!
