Have fruit flies in my kitchen attracted by wine and fruit on the table.Find source to exterminate?
I have had this problem too. I usually get those little annoying black flies when I have forgotten about some fruit or vegetable sitting out in my kitchen, usually in some inconspicuous area, and they have moved in on it. I have also absent-mindedly left part of a glass of wine sitting out for a few days, and the flies will become attracted to it and drown themselves! So now what I will do, when I start noticing the flies, is intentionally leave some wine out to catch the flies, until I figure out where they are coming from (usually some old fruit sitting out somewhere), then throw the fruit away when I find it, and leave the wine out a day or two more to catch any stragglers that didn't get thrown out with the fruit. This really works! I have also used some of those sticky fly traps which are sold in garden shops, and left them sitting around the kitchen to trap the flies. I dont know why they work, but they do. Just describe to the gardener what the problem is and they'll be able to direct you to the right fly trap. Good luck!
Reply:I just got RID of my fruit flies TODAY and I had to share with someother people the wonderful , EASY, CHEAP secret to get rid of them!

1. (the cheapest) assuming that there's fruit in your house, take a piece of fruit and put it in a glass. (I used an apple core once my boyfriend was done eating it)

2. Seal the top of the glass with plastic wrap TIGHTLY so no flies can get through the sides

3 Make small holes, tiny enough for them to get in, in the plastic wrap at the opening of the glass. Eventually the fruit will spoil, and the flies will be drawn to the small of rotten fruit. They'll find thier way in, but stupidly enough, will get stuck!!!! i didn't believe it at first, but in 2 hours, there were 5 flies inside the glass, and bout 6 outside trying to get in, and the next morning there were about 20 in the glass!!!

4. You can lay out several traps around your house, and watch innocently as they fight to find a way in, but go crazy when they try to get out!

5. I was told that the flies would all eventually die in the glass, so you can try it if you want. But the best solution I found was to cover the top of the glass QUICKLY and throw them into the garbage and dispose of it.

THE WEBSITE BELOW GIVES TWO OTHER METHODS, INCASE MINE ISNT SO HELPFUL :(
Reply:Quit leaving frit %26amp; wine on the table, if that doesnt work then try to fly bomb your house.
Reply:Clorox should do the job. Wipe the wine bottles in the fridge, keep fruit in a plastic bag with some holes in it. Clean the garbage can inside and out. Look for spots where wine may have spilled. You can always hang a fly strip to get rid of the flies that you have now.
Reply:The garbage disposal!

Get rid of the bananas or store them in the fridge, better yet store all your fruit in there.

These little suckers love (get this) soapy dish water! Mix up a bowl of liquid detergent and water and set that on your table over night and you will eventually see a decline in their numbers as well as there lil bodies in the soap water.

Scrub out your garbage disposal too.

Good Luck, hope I helped.
