Fruit is a key food to eat while pregnant.....However, I hate fruit.?

I've been eating yogurt in replace of that. Will this be good anough for me or do I need to suck it up and eat the nasty fruit?

Does your baby like fruit? Do you really hate ALL fruit? Or just the idea of it?
Reply:I thought I was the only one. I'm pregnant also and I HATE fruit. All fruits. I was thinkin about trying to buy some different fruits to see which ones I can deal with but I'm 15 weeks pregnant and I still haven't done it. I've been drinking orange juice and apple juice (and I don't even like it) -- it just makes me feel better about not eating fruit. And I don't want fruit smoothies cause I don't want to taste chunks of fruit...I've also been taking my prenatal vitamins everyday. So -- hmm ... I actually don't have an answer for this question but just know you aren't the only one with this dilemma.
Reply:The main key component in fresh fruit, that is most valuable in pregnancy is FOLATE. Yogurt will give you calcium and protein. But you need the Folate.

Folate and folic acid are both forms of B9. Folate occurs naturally in fresh foods, whereas folic acid is the synthetic form found in supplements. Your body needs folate to produce red blood cells, as well as components of the nervous system. It helps in the formation and creation of DNA and maintaining normal brain function, and is a critical part of spinal fluid. It has also been proven to reduce the risk for an NTD-affected (neural tube defect) pregnancy by 50 to 70 percent. Folic acid is vital for proper cell growth and development of the embryo. That is why it is important for a woman to have enough folate/folic acid in her body both before and during pregnancy.

Fruits rich in Folate:

Kiwi

Blackberries

Tomatoes

Orange

Strawberry

Bananas

Cantaloupe

Vegetables to eat b/c you hate fruit:

Lima Beans

Asparagus

Avocado

Peas

Artichoke

Spinach

Squash - winter

Broccoli

Squash - summer

Corn

Sweet potato

Kale

Potatoes

Carrots

Onions

Green Pepper
Reply:HOW DO YOU HATE FRUIT?

and no fruit in yogurt is like 1 strawberry
Reply:Substitute with fruit juice
Reply:Fruit and fruit juice are very high in natural sugar, and will make you gain weight very quickly. You actually need to be careful about how much of it you do eat, in excess it can even cause gestational diabetes. There is a vitamin that I take everyday. It is called "JUICE PLUS" google it I guess. They make one for fruit and one for veggies and it gives you your daily amounts without having to eat them.
Reply:no, if you don't like it, don't eat it. have other things that get you the vitamins that fruit gives you.
Reply:Hey, i hate fruit as well! Try smoothies with real fruits and juices with natural fruit juices.
Reply:eat you fruit
Reply:maybe try plugging your nose while eating it lol
Reply:Yogurt has some calcium which is good, but doesn't replace the wholeness of fruits. Fruits have essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants needed for the human body. Since you don't like fruit, I'd suggest you try mixing them into different foods. Like bananas into cereal, having celery with peanut butter and some raisins on top, or even putting a couple of grapes into your yogurt could be a good start. Over time you will acquire taste for some fruits (might take about 8 weeks), but you should definitely be eating healthy for the sake of the new life you are bringing into this world.

Congrats on your baby and hope it brings you great joy!
Reply:Eat it for your baby's sake - but find something you can stand. What about fruit smoothies? Do you have a jamba juice where you live - check it out - good luck!!
