Fruit fly issues!!!?

I'm wondering, because we don't keep fruit or stuff out and we have flys, and fruit flys everywhere!

WHERE ARE THEY COMING FROM!

and how do I get rid?

Fruit fly issues!!!?
We had a nasty case of them last summer. It took quite a while to figure out where they were breeding once they got in the house (probably the usual way with the produce bag.)

Here's what I did:

I scrubbed my garbage disposal with a short, rounded scrub brush with a handle. You have to even get all the muck underneath the flaps by pulling upward as you scrub. Scrub, rinse with the disposal running, scrub (without the disposal running), rinse, etc. Make sure that thing is nice and clean. Then you can spray some bleach cleaner down there and let it sit overnight. Rinse in the morning with the disposal on.

It's a dirty job but it did the trick for us. No more fruit flies! They are as attracted to garbage as they are the fresh fruit on your counter.

I hope that helps! (I also encourage people to clean their disposals on a regular basis that way. It's disgusting to have all that muck build up in there.)
Reply:I had that problem awhile back. Drove me absolutely crazy. They aren't nasty insects but they make you feel nasty. Come to find out my hubby had stuck some potatoes in a cabinet that I NEVER get in. I was so mad lol. Here is a site that I found very helpful. Good luck hun :)

Reply:fruit flys lay their larvae in drains and spillways where water has a chance of collecting, clean your floors, counters and trash cans with a fairly strong bleach solution and also pour straight bleach down your drains, do this on a regular basis and soon you will see the decline in their population, also try mixing a spray solution in a bottle and spray the air where you see them congregating if all else fails call an exterminator they have this stuff that is an aerosol they spray down drains and it sticks so the larvae don't have a chance of coming to fruition.
Reply:They are attracted to the scent of fruit... %26amp; they can reproduce by themselves, so the number can get pretty scary. to get rid of them, simplly place a cup of red wine out.. They're attracted to the scent of grapes; but the alocholic trait of it, kills them. After a few days, once you look into that cup... it's pretty nasty- there's a ton of fruit flies in there. Hope i helped! =]
Reply:I'm not sure where you live, but the fruit flies and house flies are horrible here in Maryland. It hasn't gotten cold enough yet to reduce the population.

If you place a glass of cider vinegar out overnight, it will attract the fruit flies and they'll drown in it.

Fly tape (disgusting, but effective) will help with the flies. Or you can buy a venus fly trap (we did). It doesn't really catch the flies, but our kids love to catch them and feed it.

Good luck!
Reply:We have that too but we suck them u with the vaccuum! lol!

BE HAPPY
