How much fruit is TOO MUCH?

i am addicted to fruit,I have always loved it. I know the recommended amount is 2 serves of fruit a day, I reckon i eat about 6-8 every day, but can even eat many more than that...Is all this sugar bad for me/my body??I get really nervous about it but love my fruit and dont want to cut back! I am thin and pretty active...

Nutrition advice please!

How much fruit is TOO MUCH?
Some answers have been good and a couple have not. I do not agree with the person that said 'You can never have too much fruit'. I have read that we should eat 5 - 10 servings of fruits and veggies but BOTH. Fruit has more calories but that's OK, however I don't think you should have more than your 6 - 8 servings. Don't forget to eat your veggies too, plus all the other nutritious stuff! Whole wheat bread, buns, cereal, etc. plus yogurt, cottage cheese and meat, etc. You need protein and calcium and all sorts of other nutrients. My grandmother went on an 'all fruit' diet and lost a lot of weight but she definitely wasn't eating healthy!
Reply:You can never have too much fruit.

The kind of sugar that is bad for you is the kind found in pop, or processed things.

Unless you have a family history of diabetes, you should be fine.
Reply:I've always been told that fructose (from fruits) is better than cucrose (in sugar). The only thing I'd worry about is the calories.
Reply:I think it ok to have it as much as you want.It helps to detox your system as well, but try to leave a day of two without it.
Reply:If its not causing you a problem, then don't worry about it. I think its actually recommeded that we eat 4-6 servings of fruit or veggies a day, so you are ok. Some fruits have more sugar in them than others...
Reply:No, 6-8 servings a day is good. The actual recommended amount is 5 servings per day. Just so long as you don't have a stomach upset, I'm sure will be fine. HTH : )
Reply:If you get the runs you've had too much fruit
Reply:6-8 serving a day are recommended for those recovering from heart attack and therefore that quantity is unlikely to cause any problem. The sugar in most fruit is fractose, which is a "goody" - not sucrose, which should be avoided.
Reply:The recommended amount is 3-4 servings. The amount you eat is just fine. The kind of sugar that's bad for you is processed sugar found in candy and other sweets. As long as you get all your other nutrients and you are not eating too many calories there is nothing wrong with eating lots of fruit, 3-4 is just a minimum.

I think it's great that you have such health habits.
Reply:It's only a problem if you're diabetic or if it's preventing you from eating other needed nutrients like protein and veggies.

Fruit is better than candy, but it's not extremely nutritious compared to vegetables.
Reply:As someone stated..sorta...when things come out of hte solid hole liquidy....you know you had too much, but your body corrected it for you.
Reply:When you start to feel the burbling in your tummy, then you know what'll be next, and that should determine for you the answer.
