Wingless fruit flies and regular fruit flies?

Can wingless(flightless fruit flies) be put in the same container? I am trying to breed both to feed to 2 red eye tree frogs, and I currently have them in separate containers, and wanted to put them in the same containers if it was possible, but I want to make sure they can survive together?, before I put them together......Anyone can answer my question? THANKS

Wingless fruit flies and regular fruit flies?
Maybe. There are two species of fruitflies (Drosophila melanogaster and D. hydei) and these mature at different rates (melanogaster matures in roughly half the time). There's also a considerable size difference.

If you"ve got the same species for both, there's no reason you can't put them together. They may even reproduce, since the "flightlessness" is just a mutation of the normal species.

If you have different species, any hydei offspring may not survive, since the yeast generally overgrows the vials/containers before they have the chance to hatch and eat it.
Reply:If it is the same species, yes.. But you should know that the offspring from them (if you succeed breeding them) will gain the flyingskills back.
Reply:If you do that, you will get all winged fruit flies. Most people consider these a pest in the herp room, which is why the wingless was developed.
Reply:I don't see why not.
