Many diets do not allow fruit. Is this just a no-carb thing, or is fruit actually a bad idea when trying to lose a few pounds?
Is fruit bad if you are trying to lose weight?
Diets in themselves are idiotic. As long as you eat healthy, and that means whole grain foods, lean meats, low-fat dairy, vegetables AND fruit, and plenty of water, you will be healthy and lose weight. That coupled with aerobic exercise and strength training.
Diets that deny carbs are complete bunk. Why do you think the Atkins doctor died early? Our bodies depend on carbohydrates as their main source of energy.
If you deny them that, they will burn fat and protein too quickly and that can lead to fatal ketoacidosis.
Reply:I don't think the issue is carbs, I think the issue is sugar. It's a natural sugar but it's still sugar. Whenever I chop sugar from my diet I feel a lot better.
Reply:no.... fruit has natural sugars the best fruits though are pineapples, plums, grapes if you wanna add some to your diet.. no carb diets are a bunch of crap
Reply:I have never ever heard of a legit diet that said fruits are bad.
You eat 5-6 servings of fruit and veggies a day. Diet or not. That is healthy and you will lose weight.
Reply:Fruit is very good, there's just some fruits that have a high sugar and carb content and eating too much of those might not be good. Bananas, for example. You just have to switch it up on the kinds of fruits you eat, and you'll be fine.
Reply:there is a lot of sugar in fruit which is bad for losing weight
Reply:you want to loose weight in short term or long term?
If you want to loose weight for the moment starve yourself. Then when you eat again normally since you lost weight your metabolism will be slower. but hey you lost weight
if you want to loose weight in the long term, eat alot and excercise, and sprinting. you eat until you feel like a fat bastard, because of this your metabolism is forced too speed up then wait about an hour or more and excercise and sprint, this will boost your metabolism to become faster.
when your metabolism after years of that become fast enough you will be able to eat alot and not gain alot of weight like you do now. because your metabolism will get so used to being fast.
Reply:Nothing is bad if you're trying to lose weight .... what's bad is taking a thing too far. Moderation is the key. You can avoid certain things like fried foods, cream, fatty cheese, butter, cakes, but you don't have to deny yourself these, just keep them as occasional treats.
You can and should eat at least 3 pieces of fruit every day, it's excellent for your digestion. Don't be going on this Atkins thing, it's just a glorified eating disorder all dressed up to look safe. Keep your carb intake low, just 100 gr (raw carb) per meal and you will lose weight slowly but safely.
Drink lots of water, at least 8 glasses a day.
Reply:It is just a no-carb thing. Fruit is good for you when dieting because it curbs your craving for sweets. The no-carb diets only want you to cut them out for a 2-week period while your body "detoxifies" which has side effects such as headaches, moodswings and constipation. Cutting out fried foods, all sodas (especially diet sodas as artificial sweeteners are bad for you), and processed carbs should be enough.
Reply:There is a lot of sugar in fruit, but its good sugar. Much better than sitting and drinking a glass of fruit juice, which is usually all concentrate. Fruit is a very important part of keeping a healthy immune system. I wouldn't stop eating it.
Reply:No, of course not, but all things in moderation.
It would be good for you to begin to incorporate healthy things into your daily diet, that's great! Keep up the good work and fruit thought process! It's good for you, the last time I checked something that's good for you is a good thing!
If you are concerned with the carb of fruit but would still love the benefits of it you could try the garden7 supplement. I take it and i really like it with my shapeworks program. It's in my profile if you're interested!
Good luck to you and good health! :-D
Reply:The best thing to eat is fruit and vegetables, that way you can get lots of the vitamins you need in your diet, while dropping those pounds.
Reply:Many diets restrict fruit for a time period because fruit contains sugar, and most diets try to cut out your addiction to sugar. Fruit is very healthy and can be used as a subsitute for say chocolate when the craving comes. However, you will want to keep your fruit servings to about 2-3 a day.
Reply:Fruits are fine, and you want to limit your intake.
What ever you do, do not drink your fruits. You lose the benefit of burning calories, and you will more than double or triple your caloric intake.
Reply:As with any food, if you eat too much of it, it is bad. Go to Calorieking.com. It's great website that tells you how many calories are in certain size portions of all foods. Stay in your calorie range and you should be able to eat anything including fruit.
Reply:Depends on what fruit U eat.
But most of them R fine as they contain
about 95% water in them.
Reply:eating fruits is never bad. As a fact many fruits help you in a process known as antioxidation. But It depends on how you eat this fruits, the outcome wont be losing weigth. For instance, mangos are rich in non prosessed sucarines and sugar, and if u eath mango with honey or normal sugar, you'll be ingesting lots os sugar. (sugar doesn`t make you fat..... it helps to retain liquids, water, and liquids do have weights....so you actually retain liquids.... so try not to) or If u eat bananas, each banana has 100-150 calories, so imagine if u eat 10 bananas..... If u are a calorie counter take this into "account". Try different kinds of fruits and in different ways..... good luck

Reply:fruit is actually very good for you.
Reply:If you eat your fruit or any other sugar for that matter, before or immediately after you work out, your body is better able to use that sugar. Thus it is less likely to be stored as fat.
Reply:no.
Reply:Fruit is excellent.
Reply:no
Reply:fruits are party of a healthy diet. They do contain alot of carb sugars, which is why low carb diets don't "allow" them to be eaten. However, fruits are rich in vitamins and minerals and are a low fat and calorie food!
