Fruit bad for you?

Is fruit bad for you because of the sugar? Yes i know its natural sugar, but why is that okay? I've never really understood. Also, due to the sugar is it bad to eat fruit at night?

fruit is good for you because of the natural sugar which is part of the nutrients.. now those gumby bears (even if they are fruit flavored are not good for you b/c it is artificial sugar) and it's perfectly fine to eat sugar at night (not too close to bed for the reason you don't want your stomach trying to digest food while your body is trying to go to sleep) no you won't get sugar high.. that's actually an illusion getting sugar high although you can get high on soda (b/c of the caffine)
Reply:Sugar is a sticky substance and if left in the bloodstream (instead of being burned as energy) the particles will start to stick to the cells. The result is that if you are consuming a lot of sugar each day, you will get more wrinkles, will experience a lack of mobility in the joints, dry brittle nails and hair and a range of other health problems.



Unlike many other simple sugars, fruit contains other important vitamins and minerals and most importantly, fibre all part of a healthy diet. It is also best to limit fruit juices as the amount of fruit needed to make it creates a higher sugar content and eliminates the fibre.
Reply:Natural sugar is good because of just that-- It's natural. It's not highly processed and chemicalized in some lab in the name of cheap products and high profits. It's made in nature by God. Works for me.



Plus, with the fiber and the zillion other nutrients in fruit and veggies, it's much better than, say, fruit flavored cereal, even if that cereal is made with whole grains and "sweetened with natural fruit juices". The same cereal is also contaminated with high fructose corn syrup (unnatural and listed before the fruit juice in the cereal's ingredients list) and artificial coloring. If I want whole grains and fruit, I'll have a bowl of oatmeal or whole wheat toast (with natural sweeteners, like cane sugar and raisin juice) with fruit. And because of the nutrients in it, I do have a glass of orange juice a day, partially because it's fortified with calcium and folate, nutrients that are much more essential for my baby. (I'm pregnant.)



I like fruits like watermelon and bananas because of the natural sweetness. When my husband and I bake with bananas, we cut back on the sugar. (Bananas work great for egg substituions; Apple sauce [we buy the natural, which is sugar free] works great for both egg substitution and oil substitution.)



Anyway, I hope this helps. Do a search for "high fructose corn syrup" and you'll get some good results as to what it is and why it's not a good thing.
Reply:all things in moderation. While it is true that fruit has it's fair share of sugars, fruit also contains some pretty important nutrients not to mention fiber. Your body needs at least 4 servings of fruit daily, a serving being maybe 6 ounces at most.
Reply:Fruit is good for you. It does contain sugar but it also contains fiber and nutrients. A bowl of Coco Puffs contains LOTS of sugar and no fiber and nutrients. Fruit has a function. Coco Puffs do not. That is the difference.
