How many servings of fruit %26amp; veggies should a toddler have? What would be a suitable fruit to have with dinner?
Fruit and Veggie servings...?
Toddlers need about 1000 calories a day from across the food groups:
meat, fish, poultry and eggs – 2 portions daily
bread, cereals, rice, potatoes and pasta – 5 portions daily
fruit and vegetables – 5 portions daily
dairy produce and other calcium-rich foods – 4 portions daily
Toddlers vary in the amount they eat (my son who is nearly two would gladly eat all day given half the chance) and may prefer to eat little and often rather than three large meals.
In the UK recently it was noted in the news that a lot of daycare providers for preschool kids were giving too many portions of fruit and veg and not enough fat which enables toddlers to grow and develop.
My little boy loves bananas. They work well as an after dinner food. With custard or icecream as a treat desert, or in their hands as a snack. I also blitz fruit with milk to make fresh milkshakes that go down well too!

I think some good fruits to go with dinner would be tomato's they are a fruit, avacado's are as well, olives, (both of my girls like olives) that's a good way to sneak some fruits in at dinner time.
Reply:Try to include each food group in every meal.
Switch it up, if needed.
Say, you included fruits, grains and protein in breakfast, put
vegetables, dairy and bread for lunch
Reply:We try to include fruits right after dinner and call it dessert. We have pineapple, grapes, watermelon, mangoes (seasonal) or canned fruit like peaches or pears in the winter.
