Is Fruit Sugar The same as the Sugar in candy?

Can the Sugar in fruit be stored as fat? Can you get fat from eating too much fruit?

Is Fruit Sugar The same as the Sugar in candy?
Fruit sugar is known as fructose while sugar in candy is sucrose.

There are differences between the different sugars. When we eat

sucrose, our bodies quickly break it down into roughly equal parts of glucose and fructose. Glucose is the sugar our bodies use for both physical and mental energy. When our bodies sense an increase of glucose in the blood, it immediately directs the pancreas to push insulin into the blood stream. With the insulin, the body is able to burn the glucose as energy. If there's too much glucose in the blood stream to be used as energy, the glucose can be changed to glycogen, the body's short-term storage energy supply. And if the glycogen pool is already full, the body will turn it into long term storage in the form of fat.

Using fructose instead of sucrose puts a strong damper on many

of these problems. Your body can't use fructose without converting it into glucose in the liver. Actually, most of the time, however, unless your body needs to immediately increase it's blood-sugar level, the liver changes fructose into glycogen first. We have already mentioned glycogen which is the body's short term energy supply. A typical adult will have as much as 3/4 pound of glycogen in their various tissues at one time, mostly stored in the liver and muscles. As the glucose level in the blood begins to drop, the liver can rapidly convert this stored glycogen into glucose. In short the reason why Fruit sugar is better for you than table sugar is that by eating table sugar (Sucrose) our bodies go out of sync with our sugar levels as the sugar is processed in the body extremely fast. Fructose (Fruit sugar) is broken down more slowly which allows the body more time to react to the sweetener that has been consumed.
Reply:No,fruit sugar is better and more healthy. You would have to eats tons and tons of fruit to get fat...
Reply:I believe sugar in candy is plain white sugar however the sugar from so-called fruit is called fructose which is very very bad for you. It is the process it goes through that makes this stuff harmful. Did you know that it is made from corn syrup. Because it is called fruit sugar you may think it is associated with fruit, which is a natural food - that it is healthier than sugar, but the opposite is true. Male test rats do not reach adulthood. They have high anemia, high cholesterol and herat hypertrophy - now that you know this will you now stay clear of this. Oh, by the way xylotol (a new health sugar) is also very toxic Yes I think you can get too fat from eating too much fruit, avocado is very fattening, but healthy for you, unlike fat from greasy foods.
Reply:fruit sugar = fructose

candy = sucrose

fructose is healthy, sucrose is toxic.

as mentioned above you would have to eat an incredible amount of fruit to have the same deleterious effect of sucrose.
Reply:It is healthier but too much of anything will make you fat....
Reply:candy sugar is usually refined and bleached. If you are looking for a healthy substitute, you can use fruit sugar. Remember the old saying "its sugar if it rhymes with gross" fructose, glucose, sucrose...

Your body can store the calories from anything as fat if you eat too much of it.
Reply:Yes, you can gain weight from too much fruit also.

Are you talking about candy that is sugared from fruit like some of those roll ups?

I am answering from the point of what fruit contains and the calories verses most candy.

Nature's natural sugar is found in whole fruits and frozen/and

canned that has no sugar or sucrose, honey, light/heavy syrup, other chemical sweetners that have have been added. to sweeten or preserve.

Sometimes fruit is packed in natural fruit juice which is fine. Usually fresh fruit is your best bet and eating the peels if they are edible such as apples.

Candy almost always has the other processed sugar that is the kind your body doesn't need.Try to avoid the no calorie candy also if you can help it. It has chemicals to sweeten it. There are plenty of calories and no fiber, little nutrients in candy claimed to be just made up of fruit juice or fruit and not filling so you will probably eat more.

Natural sugar is fine. Do eat your fruits in moderation though. You need them for a balanced diet. Fruits do contain calories and do differ in their amount of calories and different nutrients. Some recipe or library books on health, and many other resources can tell you nutrients and how many calories in a certain portion of fruit.

You can also ask about fruits and calories and nutrition on the internet. Also it wouldn't surprise me if somebody in your family or a neighbor or friend has some kind of diet book that probably list calories of food.

Yes, you can gain weight if you eat too much fruit for they have caloric energy and your body only burns so much in a given day.

Plus you might miss other important nutrients from other sources of food because you are already full from fruit. Also too much fruit of the same nature can cause problems like too much acidity in your system, loose bowels, hives, stomach ache, etc.

Take good care of yourself and enjoy your sweet fruit in balanced portions for the day.

Should you never eat candy? Absolutely not. A little can be a treat once in awhile.... the once in a while meaning not every couple hours or every day.
Reply:Fruit sugar is unrefined and more natural than the refined junk in candy. It is better for you, even if it is a simple sugar. If you eat too much of anything, you can get fat. A person can eat only carbohydrates and get fat if they eat too much because the body stores the excess energy as fat.
Reply:yes, fruit sugars are just as caloried (if thats even a word) as candies are.
