I've never eaten much fruit or veg and have always been a long way off my five-a-day. However, I've really made an effort to eat the correct amount over the last week or so and suddenly have so much more energy! I've always had to sleep for at least 9 hours a night or I'm so tired, but now I'm sleeping less and feeling great.
I've never considered that eating more fruit and veg would give me an energy boost, so I wondered whether this is connected or if it's just a really weird coincidence. If anyone has any ideas on how all this works (and how I can keep feeling like this!) please let me know.
Do fruit and veg give you extra energy?
Well first off good for you... You are actually supposed to have 3-4 servings of fruit and 4-5 servings of veggies every day... which come to 7-9 collectively... And yes... it completely makes sense that you have more energy now...
Fruits and veggies are carbs, but they are good healthy carbs and have a good bit of fiber too... Carbs are what you need for energy... There isn't any artificial preservative or anything artificial in them so your body doens't need as much energy to break them down... Giving you more energy... And in order to keep feeling the energy level increase... Keep up the good work! Try using the extra energy to stay more active cause your body will produce natural endorphins to increase your energy level as well...

Reply:Some basic fruit and vegetable tips:
? Try to eat more fruits and vegetables. If you need 2,000 calories a day to maintain your weight and health, aim for at least nine servings (4? cups) a day.
? Choose a variety of different fruits and vegetables. It's easy to get into a rut when it comes to the food you eat. Break out and try a wider variety - include dark-green, leafy vegetables; yellow, orange, and red fruits and vegetables; cooked tomatoes; and citrus fruits.

Reply:Oh, definitely, I think your problem beforehand with the decreased energy was the fact that you had a deficiency in some vitamin or mineral. Vegetables and fruits are loaded with vitamins and minerals, and probably cleared up your deficiency problem. Good job and I hope you keep feeling better.
