I have been getting canned fruit that is in 100% fruit juice with no sugar added.
For example, I have a can of pineapple slices that is 100% pineapple juice with no sugar added.
I was still wary but the ingredients are:
"pineapple, pineapple juice, water, and clarified pineapple juice concentrate."
It also says 'no preservatives' on it.
I know people say that canned fruit isn't good for you but I don't see the problem with this... what do you all think?
Okay.... canned fruit in 100% juice... just as good as eating it fresh (or at least close)?
The only difference is that it won't have as many vitamins as fresh. However keep in mind that when fresh fruit is evaluated it hasn't sat in storage, been shipped, sat again and then sold. So its really about the same. Canned pineapple will be missing a natural digestive enzyme that is destroyed by cooking but it is still just as healthy otherwise.
Reply:There's nothing wrong with canned fruit in fruit juice. Don't, however, drink much, if any, of the juice as you're getting a lot of natural sugar and calories in that. Just eat the fruit.
Reply:i dont know much bout that. but i can tell u that it is healthier to eat fresh fruits. i dont each canned fruits cuz they probably have more calories. also, fresh fruits can be counted on to give u wut u need. plus sumtimes they over exagerate. caanned goods are better for using in fancy meals. but 4 n everyday thing, ur better off eating fresh foods.
Reply:NO....the canned has more vitamins in it,....when you eat a fresh fruit ...it has less juice in it than in the can.....u see concentrate means that they have collected thousands of pineapples..and then selectively taken what they needed..like vitamin A, C, E..and then put it in your juice....but fresh is always better
Reply:Don't eat anything canned- just always stick with fresh.

Reply:Grass,Grass,Grass- This should be the main part of a rabbits diet -ie 98%.They should have no more than 1 eggcup full of excel pellets per day. Veg wise leafy greens, carrot tops, chick weed,dandelions- Their is many weeds and different food stuffs which are safe for rabbits to eat. There is actaully a book you can get detailing all of this but im afraid i can not remember the name. The key is moderation-Not too much of one food stuff. You can offer fruit- but small amount now and again as fruit has a high sugar content this can rot there teeth. They also love wood from fruit trees-Make sure it has not been spryed with anything, they like to gnaw it and strip the bark from it.
Reply:try dried grass
Reply:I agree! I like to give my baby variety :]. I wouldn't like to eat the same old thing everyday lol.
Here are some more things you can add to your list!
Carrot tops, the green leafy part.
Parsley.
Oranges, skin and fruity part.
Strawberries, the fruit (as a treat) and green tops.
Silver beet.
Grass! Bonnie's favourite lol!
Celery, stem and leaves.
Watermelon NO seeds.
Corn on the cob (I don't know if you can give them raw or not, I always cook mine and give it to her cold.)
Spinach.
Cabbage (not too much though- just as a treat.)
Green peppers.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head... if you're giving her red apples try green or vice versa.
Also, you can get these things for birds at pet shops that you can give your bunny, they love them! http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/5299/... not necessarily that shape but you get what I mean :].
Reply:Alfalfa treats, Timothy Hay, My girl LOVES the flowers or the clovers, and she'll eat the leafs sometimes.
Reply:Parsley. it triggers their appetite. minimum cherries, how old is your rabbit? because rabbits cant eat green vegs and fruit as a whole diet. they need hay(main food source), and limit amounts of pellets. you are having a good idea, but thats not the diet of rabbits, rabbits are born in the wild to eat grass, hay. these helps flush out all hairballs that could get blocked in the intestines causing a infection. If able, feed timothy hay as main meal (timothy hay consists of all the fiber they need to flush their intestines). fresh vegs should be the next important, then pellets, treats and grain. please dont give fresh vegs to rabbits until 3-4 months because it can cause severe diarrhea, their intestines are really sensitive and can not cope with wet food.
Reply:If your rabbit is younger than 4 months, alfalfa hay should be available in the cage at all times. If older than 4 months, then timothy hay. My rabbit also loves romaine lettuce (iceberg is bad for the digestive system), basil, parsley, and chikory. All of these can be found in the fresh produce section at the grocery store. (Parsley is probably the cheapest).
As a special treat, I buy dried strawberries and cut them up into quarters, and give my rabbit a total of no more than 1.5 strawberries per day. Any more could make her sick. She loves this treat, and is even willing to do minimal tricks for them. :)
Reply:there r somegabiles they can eat
Reply:I know nothing about rabbits that doesn't involve either a stock-pot or roasting tin.
You have appallingly bad spelling skills, by the way.

Fruit Flies?
I was just wondering...how do you get rid of fruit flies after you have finished the fruit, but they are still swarming your house?
Fruit Flies?
Take away any food source. Those things have a really short lifespan!

What pureed fruit can i give to my 3 1/2 month old daughter?
I was told that when my baby's 4 months I can start her on cereals and prueed fruit. I breastfeed at the moment but was told that rather than cereals to give fruit. I know that banana is ok, but what other fruits can I give as I'd rather give her fresh than the jars.
What pureed fruit can i give to my 3 1/2 month old daughter?
I started my son on baby fruit at 3 and 1/2 months but it was too acidy for his tummy. The health visitor said some babies can handle it, some can't. Mine obviously can't. I have hime on baby rice in the mornings (just a few spoonfuls) but he's great on it. I would try cereal/rice first. x
Reply:Any fruits you want really. Strawberries are a favourite of my lad, but he also eats apples, oranges, grapes, raisins (not great for pureƩ).
Reply:Apples and pears are good basics, but don't rush the food. You don't want to risk allergys. My doctor told us to start with the cereal.
Reply:avocado, mashed: loads of mineral and vits. in there.
Reply:NONE, no all wrong. I don't know who is telling you this but you are gonna mess her little belly up. First of all you need to wait until she is SIX MONTHS. Babies bellys can't digest food any earlier than this, you will have a screaming baby on your hands. At six months you need to start her out on cereal. Usually rice cereal and then oatmeal. Give everything different a week between to watch for allergies. Than you need to move onto VEGGIES! First orange veggies like carrots and sweet potatoes, then yellow, like squash, then green like peas and green beans. Like I said, make sure you take a week in between everything new to watch for allergies. You can mix things up once you know she is ok with then. Then after all that you can move onto fruits.
Reply:I recomend trying ceral first. I brestfeed also and started her ceral with a feeder you can buy them at walgreens it kind of maked the transition easier for my daughter. I feed her baby food with a spoon though. Even if you want to use freshh fruits go to he grocery store and look at all the baby foods from gerber that are stage one that will give you ideas of whats been tested for babys starting to eating food. good luck seeing them eat baby food for the first times is a incredible moment
Reply:if you boil apples, pears, plums then mash it kids love that, even mangoes you can buy really squashy ones (no need to boil?
Reply:Go see your paediatrician and if they say it is OK i would get some mush carrots and apple sauce mush corn or peaches and pars but you can also make your own baby food and it will save you money and i is more healthy because some company's but stuff in there water while the food is cooking .get some carrots at the store and boil some water put the carrot in it let the cook until there soft and drain them and smash them with a smasher and if your don't have a smasher a spatula will work the put some butter in it and a little milk the cool in the fridge for a minute.
Reply:You don't need to start her on any foods if your breastfeeding. A breastfed baby doesn't need anything else until they are 2 years old. With that said if you do still want to give her foods, then at least wait until she is 6 months. At 6 months the supply of iron a baby is born with starts to deplete and they can use the supplement they can get from foods.
If you want to then I suggest just buying 1 of everything and trying eat out. It's a good time to experiment :) Since you want it fresh, go see what's in the jars then duplicate what you want to try out. That's really a good thing. Manufacturers add sugars to baby foods. Babies are extra sensitive to sugar and will get to the point where they want things with added sugar if given too may of them in the beginning.
A little fact about babies: Even if they don't appear to like a food at first, when given a food for about 10 times, each time they're given the food they become less resistant to it. So by the 10th time they'll like the food.
Also, by the time a baby is 6 months old their favorite veggie is the french fry. This usually starts with mashed potatoes.
Reply:cooked apple or pair pureed.
mango puree is great!
peaches
apricot
papaya.
you can give veg aswell -
try sweet potato
avacado
carrots
sweetcorn
these vegetable are naturally sweet!
Reply:DolphinFan02 is right!! be careful. make sure to only try one new thing per week, if she become alleric to something it can take upt o a week to show signs, and so if you give her 3 different things you won't know what caused the allergic reaction. my sister in law has a 5 month old and she only just started on veggies. and strawberries they say are one of the last fruits to try, when they are a bit older, apparently it's most common for allergies.
Reply:I started with cereal for a while, then introduced vegetables, and fruits after that. The sweetness of fruits might cause her to be more picky when it comes to eating vegetables, and cereals tend to be an easier transition in eating, as they are more bland and usually mixed with breastmilk or formula.
Reply:i wouldn't start her on fruit until later. rice cereal should be first. you should do veggies (which you can steam and puree) before fruits. otherwise you may have trouble getting your baby to eat other things once she is used to sweet fruits.
Reply:You can puree pear, apple, peach and there's much more. I find pear and apple go great together and are really easy to cook. Hope it helps
Reply:Apples and pears are good, so is giving her orange segments to squish up and suck on...make sure she doesn't choke, though! No need to add sugar to any fruit, I'm sure you know...
Reply:Won't fruit give her wind? I'd stick with baby rice, or organic jars - at least they've been scientfically proven to be OK.
Reply:My ped told me to only start cereals around 2 months and vegetables at 4 months. He said to wait until six months to introduce fruits.

Fruit Acid Dye. What is it and is it permanent on your hair?!?
I put some Fruit Acid Hair Dye on my hair 2 weeks ago, and it didnt really show cause I kinda screwed it up a little. (It's supposed to be purple by the way.)
Now, it's still quite visible under the sun (even though it didn't really work well, but it did work a little). If my teachers catch me with that, i'm dead.
My mom got me some Thai brand product so I can't read **** from it except the name and some instructions. It came off my hands in 2 days. (Yes, I didn't use a glove, stupid me) But my hair still has this purplish glow under the sun and when I'm not under the sun it has a very light purple colour.
Someone care to explain what the hell is Fruit Acid Dye? Or isit just a name?! AHHH!
I'm seriously panicking now.
Fruit Acid Dye. What is it and is it permanent on your hair?!?
Hmmm...Im not sure exactly what that product is that you used. But here are some tips to try at home to remove hair dye:
* Wash hair with hot water
* Use a clarifying shampoo or Head and Shoulders or Prell
* Use liquid dish detergent or liquid laundry soap
Good luck :)

Yogert without chunks of fruit in it?
I love yogert but I do not like it when it has fruit chunks in it. I like the fruit flavors just not the fruit in it. does any one know of a brand that has no chunks in it? I hate vanilla flavored ones. I've tried store brands- foodlion giant ect- but they have just as much a breyers %26amp; yoplait. the only thing I've found is kids yogert, but I figure they arent as good for you.
so 2 questions, any brands without fruit chunks %26amp; is kids yogert as good as regular yogert (trix, yoplait kids ect)
Yogert without chunks of fruit in it?
Danone is good. So is Safeway brand (Lucerne).
Reply:Ewww, I hate the chunks they are so gross. I love the Trix little kid ones. I find it very hard to find yogurt without chunks unless it's vanilla or a little kids brand.
Reply:Yoplait is good, there are lots of varieties and flavors as well.
Reply:You could always buy the plain (not vanilla- just plain white) and flavor it yourself.
I cannot think of any brands off the top of my head that don't have the chunks of fruit...oh wait. What about the Yoplait whipped kind? I don't think that has chunks.
Since we're on the subject, you do realize that any yogurt with fruit in it is not all that good for you, right? When they add the artificial flavors, colors and "fruit", it adds a LOT of sugar and chemical extras that sort of defeat the purpose of eating yogurt in the first place.
I no longer eat it, but when I did, I purchased the plain white type and added what I wanted just for that very reason.
Good luck.
