Making a fruit glaze?

i want to make a fruity type glaze from fruit juices, i'm assuming it doesnt work the same way as wines, so how do i thicken fruit juices while still keeping the great taste?

Making a fruit glaze?
If you truely want to make a fruit glaze then you need to start with fresh fruit, not juice. Juice has been pasturized and filtered and just doesn't hold up to the process as well. What you need to do is get some of your favorite fruit or fruits, a small sauce pan, sugar, water, and if you want.. some alchohol (preferably brandy or bourbon). Take the fruit, a moderate amout of water, and alchohol (if your using it) and put them in the sauce pan. start with a low heat and bring to a simmer. Taste. If too tart add the sugar in small amounts until it tastes right for you. Continue to simmer and stir until the sauce can coat the back of the spoon nicely without just pouring off (the term for this is nappe). Once you have the sauce to the consistency that you want strain out all the seeds and pulp and return to heat. Make sure to squeeze the pulp to get all the sryup and juices out. Taste. Adjust seasonings according to your tastes. Simmer for about 5-10 min and viola you have a fresh fruit glaze to impress your friends and family. If you still wish to use fruit juices instead of fresh you will have to use Unflavored Gelatin from the store. Just follow the directions on the box for making hot glaze.
Reply:Not sure what type of fruit glaze you want?

I am a chocolate person, just chocolate! (-:

Hope these links help you!
Reply:boil down with added sugar... I am afraid that you will have to compromise with the sweeter taste
Reply:Roasted Spicy Pineapple with Passion Fruit Glaze

2 cups sugar

1 1/2 cups water

1 vanilla bean split

1/4 cup dark rum

1 tablespoon minced ginger

2 Thai bird chiles

1 banana, chopped

1 tablespoon passion fruit syrup (or 2 tablespoons puree)

1 tablespoon pink peppercorns, for garnish

1 ripe pineapple, peeled (Costa Rican)

Preheat an oven to 350 degrees. In a small saucepan, mix together the sugar, water and vanilla bean and cook until golden brown. Add the rum, ginger, chiles, banana, passion fruit and mix well. Allow to cool then blend in a food processor. Strain and set aside. Place pineapple in a shallow baking dish and brush on glaze. Bake for 1 1/2 hours, basting every 15 to 20 minutes. Save the warm sauce in the baking dish for plating.

its different and sounds good!
Reply:Easy. Corn starch. Mix 1 Tblsp. cornstarch with 1/2 cup cold water. Bring your fruit juices to a boil, re-stir the cornstarch mixture and add to the juices, stirring constantly. It will thicken within 2 minutes. Remove from heat at once.

Allergic to fruit?

Does anyone else get an itchy/scratchy feeling in their mouth and throat when eating fruit? What causes this? My mouth actually gets swollen when I eat some fruit. I never had this problem until after age 25 or so....

Allergic to fruit?
i don't get those symptom,s but i do get migraines if i'm anywhere within a 3 metre radius of anything with orange or orange flavouring in it. i also get really bad wind if i eat onions so i've pretty much cut them out of my diet completely i'm mildly caffeine intolerant and don't drink tea or coffee i do eat chocolate and drink certain fizzy drinks these intolerances are as a result of having vertigo sounds crazy I know but it's true. i would DEFINITELY go and get this problem checked out
Reply:this happens 2 me 2... i read that it has sumthin 2 do with the chemicals in the insecticides they use.... u might be allegic to them and it doesnt matter that u started this at 25 becuz u can develop allergies to sumthing at any time of ur life..if i want 2 eat fruit and i dont want an itchy/ scratchy throat or gums ( i hate the gums part of it) then i take some benadryl before i eat some.... this also prevents my throat from getting swollen or closing up... hope i helped/..

Allergies can develop at any age. I started being allergic to pollen around the age of 24.
Reply:I cannot eat oranges and sometimes limes. They are too acidic. I get blisters on my tongue or canker sores or a scratchy throat. My grandmother's jaw and ear swells when she eats oranges. I did not have this prob. untill I was 27 and had my 1st child.
Reply:Yes that happens to me, it also started after I was grown. I've heard people who have hayfever can also be allergic to fruit that has the same type of pollen. I had to stop eating melons after my throat swelled. If your throat swells, you should probably stop eating it, because it can get worse each successive time.
Reply:yea... i get it when i eat watermelon or melons in general. my throat get itchy and i have to drink tons of water or run my tongue against the back of my mouth. it sucks. its been like that for a couple of years, and im 16

How are fruit/ leaves made?

I know they grow on trees and what not, but how exactly does a tree make it's fruit? Where does the stuff come from (in the trunk). How does a tree say "Hey, I don't want this __________, so let's expel it."

Same with leaves.

How does it start making it? Are the ingredients for the fruit/ leaves already in the trunk and it just starts growing on the outside?

How are fruit/ leaves made?
Well, its a long process to explain, but in short fruits are swollen and juicy wall of ovary. Female part of modern day flowering plants have the ovules covered inside leaf like ovary. After pollens have fertilized ovules it triggers enlargement of ovarian wall leading to the formation of fruit. However, there are various modifications of such a generalization.

My mother always washes before eat them, but I'd never done that until I read in the magazine "Parenting" that you should wash bananas and oranges before you eat because of a bunch of bacterias and germs on the skins.

Reply:you don't really need to worry about the calories in the vegetables since you would have to eat loads and loads to get to 800 but maybe count calories of the fruit.

this website has all the calories in different fruits and veg - http://www.caloriecounting.co.uk/resourc...
